Lacrosse Tournament Packing List

I have spent enough weekends on the sidelines of lacrosse fields to have opinions.

Strong opinions.

Mostly about what belongs in my tournament bag.

Lacrosse tournaments usually mean a flight for us, so everything on my list has to fit in a suitcase. And after enough weekends of blazing sun, high altitudes, freezing mornings, questionable concession stands, and back-to-back games on Fields 1 & 17, I have found my system.

THE TOURNAMENT SURVIVAL GUIDE

Travel:

DIY PVC lacrosse shaft holder/packer - goes with our checked sports equipment and keeps the shafts together and protected

Cal Pak luggage-my favorite! Holds up well & better price point than Away. And they have a wonderful customer service and warranty department.

🏕️ SIDELINE SETUP
• CLIQ portable chairs - the 2-pack travels surprisingly well
• Outdoor waterproof sports blanket with  carrying bag
• Shade umbrella when the forecast calls for approximately 147° and no trees

☀️ HOT WEATHER
• Handheld misting fan
• Sunscreen
• Bug spray
• Sunglasses & hat
• Cold towels -Pro tip: soak enough for the entire team in a cooler of ice water. They’ll love you for it!

🥶 COLD WEATHER
• Rechargeable hand warmers - one of my favorite tournament purchases  • I have even invested in the battery powered heated jacket by Ororo which later doubled as a ski jacket
• Waterproof blanket
• Gloves & a beanie

🥤 HYDRATION
• Hydro Flask with straw lid
• Gatorade for the kids
• Nuun hydration tabs for Mom
• H2Tabs
• Extra water because tournament water prices are basically highway robbery

🥨 THE SNACK STASH- MY KIDS’ FAVORITES
• Chomps meat sticks
• Barebells protein bars
• Skinny Pop
• Quest Protein Chips
• Nerds Gummy Clusters

Yes, I know. We contain multitudes.

👜 THE MOM BAG

•  I love my Rothy’s tote bag as a catch-all! Everything fits in it and when I get home, I can throw it in the washing machine. It holds up in all kinds of weather.
• Monti Socialite cooler bag to hold extra sparkling waters!
• Portable charger
• Wet wipes & Hand Sanitizer
• EOS lip balm
• Small first-aid basics
• Advil/Tylenol
• Hair ties
• Plastic/Ziploc bags for wet or muddy things
• A few grocery bags for trash, dirty cleats, etc.

🏔️ HIGH-ALTITUDE TOURNAMENTS
Colorado and Utah taught me a few things:
• Oxygen cans
• ALL the eos or your favorite chapstick
• Extra hydration/electrolytes
• Sunscreen even when it doesn’t feel hot

And finally: check the weather approximately 50  times before you leave because tournament weather has absolutely no respect for the outfit you packed.

This may sound excessive, but I have never once been sitting comfortably in my CLIQ chair, with my misting fan blowing and a cold sparkling water in my hand and thought, I really wish I had packed less.

Save this one for tournament season and tell me what I’m missing because there is always room for one more game changer.
